St. Peter´s online teaching platform is Google Suite for education. This platform offers the possibility of creating virtual classrooms for each of the subject areas in secondary and each of the homeroom groups in primary and early years.
Classroom environment
The classroom environment allows teachers to post announcements, materials and assignments for the students to complete during the homeschooling period. The use of collaboration tools like google docs, sheets and slides are also a feature of this platform. Students can collaborate with their classmates, complete online questionnaires and receive teacher feedback daily.
Continuity with school routine
In order to offer our students some continuity with their school routine, the whole school follows a daily timetable from 9:00 to 14:00 and students meet with their classmates and teachers using the Hangouts Meet tool. In blocks of an hour each, homeroom teachers and specialists meet with their students and have an online session. These face to face sessions span from Nursery 1 to Year 12 and are our way of keeping the community connected and students engaged and invested in their education.
“Our goal is to maximize the human contact
and minimize the effects of isolation and distress.”
