CWMUN - The Project
CWMUN is a project that aims to involve students from all over the world in the global challenges from an educational perspective. The participants will assume the role of United Nations ambassadors and by being part of UN’s committees will represent different countries and work to find posible solutions to different topics of nowadays UN’s agenda.
Each of the topics to be discussed are assigned to a commission. Participants are assigned a country (which can not be their own), and they must investigate the situation of the country and their position on the proposed topics. During the conference the issues are discussed, reproducing the exact process followed by United Nations diplomats.
300 students (14 to 17 years old)
50 schools (from 20 countries)
In the General Assembly, the main theme was discussed: “Increase responsiveness of the International Community on human trafficking in the Mediterranean Sea”. At the same time, issues such as “the reform of the Iran’s Nuclear Programme Deal”, “the reform of the Security Council”, “Addressing the threat of foreign terrorist fighters in Europe”, “the Kosovo crisis in 1999” and, finally, “Rebuilding of liberated territories in Syria”. A big part of the strategy was to find allied countries, reach agreements and finally a resolution.
